Well as most of you probably know my drumkit is a pearl export series. 100% Poplar shells. Six and seven ply. The poplar produces a deep, dry crisp tone with the right amount of warmth ideal for metal. This is one of my favorite sound for metal. However, when tuned high, it can't handle the fast sound waves so well, so it deepens it. Which in most cases is a good thing, but not on the snare.
So I am thinking about getting a custom snare drum. I have a few in mind.
